Our choice of place and time is symbolic. Lake Taupo as the starting point for launching our new project is not at all accidental. It shines on the map as the heart of the North Island and in fact, according to Maori legend, the lake is the pulsating heart of Maui's fish. Maui is the main hero of the Polynesians for out of his boat, represented symbolicically as the Southern Island, he pulled the piece of land from the depth of the ocean which became the North Island .Here our hearts can open fully and resonate with the celestial rhythm of the Autumn Equinox which falls on the 21-23rd March.

The lake and its surroundings are also a perfect place where the 4 elements are fully represented:

Fire - Maori tradition relates that the Lake Taupo region is part of a ' line of fire ' that extends from their mythical original home in Hawaiki, through White Island off the east coast of the North Island, heading inland and south, south west to Rotorua and to Taupookaanu stream, south of Lake Taupo before bursting into flames as the sacred volcanoes Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro.

Water
– with 47 rivers and streams flowing into the lake, this area is renowned for trout fishing and kayaking. The Waikato River is the only river flowing out of the lake - at 425 kilometres in length it's New Zealand's largest natural waterway. For all New Zealanders, the Waikato River has always been a great provider - from fish, eels and freshwater lobster, to drinking water, irrigation and hydro-electric power.

Wood
- The Pureora forest, west of Lake Taupo, is recognised as one of the finest rainforests in the world and its trees belong to an ancient family of trees dating from the dinosaur era. The thousand-year-old podocarp trees of giant totara, rimu, matai, miro and kahikatea, tower high into the canopy of the forest. It’s rich bird life includes the rare kokako and the kaka, kakarihi and North Island robin. The Kaimanawa Forest Park lies to the south of Taupo and is reknown for its beautiful river valleys, wide tussock terrain, grassy flats and gorges.. The Whirinaki rainforest is a fascinating and educational eco-cultural experience.

Earth
–the soil in Taupo region is fertile with minerals and the development of commerce and trade around Taupo can be to large extent atributed to it’s soils.

Lake Taupo is Australasia's largest lake, it is more of an inland sea really. Maori have long-called it Taupo Moana (the sea of Taupo) - indeed, this large lake is very deep and can be very changeable like the sea. The lake's attractive pumice sand beaches give it the appearance of an inland ocean. At 616 square kilometres, it is as big as Singapore Island.
